National Historic Site, progress
Sent on behalf of Coquitlam Councillor Mae Reid
Dear Riverview Advisory Committee members:
Just a quick update to let you know that the City received a letter late last week from the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada indicating that they have completed their preliminary review of the City's application which was submitted earlier this year (February/March 2009) as per Council direction to designate Riverview as a National Historic Site. Based on this preliminary review, the application will now move forward to the full Board for its consideration at its Fall 2010 meeting. The Board convenes twice a year to consider submissions. We will keep you posted on any new updates through 2010.
Wishing you all the best for the Holiday season and look forward to working with you in the New Year.
Regards
Rob Innes, Manager Community Planning

Oppal opens up on judges, police, the Charter THE GOOD
Quote: “The so-called professionals of the ’80s closed Riverview because of new age thinking that sent all those people onto the streets. Now police spend all their time monitoring them,” he said. A provincial initiative to re-open Riverview was shot down by Coquitlam City council. end quote.
Do not know where this last statement came from, very miss-informed.
